New Bridge! - Folsom Lake Crossing Opening Celebration

The long awaited opening of the new bridge at Folsom Dam is set for Saturday, March 28.

This bridge links Folsom-Auburn Road to East Natoma Street and newer Folsom to Old Folsom.

The Folsom Dam Road was closed in 2003 for safety concerns following 9/11. It will be great to have this corridor open once again, as I remember when it closed and more than doubled by commute over to El Dorado Hills.

This is your unique opportunity to walk across the bridge before it opens to traffic.

Here are the details taken from the website:

10 a.m. -- Program featuring speeches by elected officials and other dignitaries, and a ribbon cutting ceremony. Music by the award winning Folsom High School Marching Band. (Note: There will be no public access to the bridge during the program.)

11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. -- Community festival on the bridge featuring entertainment by the Dam Road Closed Band and other groups, exhibits and food vendors.

4 p.m. -- Bridge opens to vehicular traffic.

Parking: From East Natoma Street, turn onto Folsom Lake Crossing Road. Volunteers will direct attendees to on-street parking along both sides of the one mile long road leading to the bridge. On-going shuttle service from the parking area to the bridge will be available.

Note: The Folsom-Auburn Road bridge entrance will be closed until the bridge opens to vehicular traffic at 4 p.m.
